In the first week of May, the Writers Guild of America (WGA) went on an indefinite strike. They have been demanding better pay and job security for writers for writing content for streaming platforms.

The WGA had talks with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) but it fell through and caused the writers to go on strike. All the late-night talk shows went off the air because of it.

The writers have been saying that their fees have taken a hit since the advent of streaming platforms. They stated that it’s royalty and residual amount is also lesser than cable television.
