Doctor Doom might have a big problem on his hands in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’, and it may involve two of the film’s biggest heroes. According to plot leaks and fan theories, characters who die directly may not return when Doom creates Battleworld, while those whose universes are destroyed by an incursion could survive or be recreated.

If that’s true, Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man and Wolverine might have a very strange edge going into ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’.

The opening of ‘Doomsday’ is reportedly set to feature Tobey’s Spider-Man fighting Wolverine and Deadpool before Magneto and the Sentinels attack Tobey’s Earth. The alleged plot gets even crazier when Beast’s device is activated, resulting in the destruction of the entire universe.

Deadpool is supposed to get away, but Tobey and Wolverine are left behind. The interesting part is that the leaks don’t necessarily prove that either hero is killed outright. Their universe just collapses around them, and there’s a chance that they will somehow survive. Maybe they’ll get sucked into space, or maybe they’ll get pulled into the Void. As a theory, however, it presents an intriguing loophole.

Doom Could Accidentally Leave Them With Their Memories

The actual issue with Doom wouldn’t be just keeping Tobey and Wolverine alive. It would be their memories. If Battleworld is based on the reconstructed characters and the rewritten memories, then Doom can assume that Tobey and Wolverine are just like everyone else.

They would know Battleworld as their own reality, and they would have no idea of another reality. But what if they didn’t actually die? If they are able to survive the destruction of their universe and somehow end up in Battleworld themselves, their memories may not be lost.

They could recall their Earth being destroyed, their history prior to Battleworld and, crucially, who was responsible. Two of the most battle-tested warriors of the Battleworld know that Doom’s world is a sham. It would be a big mistake. Tobey’s Spider-Man and Wolverine may be living examples of the universe Doom sought to destroy, and perhaps two of the most ardent enemies of Doom.
