Paul Reubens’ Career And Show
The comedian and producer, Paul Reubens started his career back in the 1970s when he became part of the Los Angeles live comedy group, the Groundlings. Reubens bought out ‘The Pee-wee Herman Show‘ in the 1980s, from a fictional character he had in mind for years. Soon it became a cult favorite and the show ran for five sold-out months. This achievement landed him an opportunity to work with HBO.
The show grew to become two films, ‘Pee-wee’s Big Adventure‘ and ‘Big Top Pee-wee‘, the former directed by Tim Burton. It then became a weekend morning show on CBS called ‘Pee-wee’s Playhouse‘ from 1986 to 1990. The show came to an end in 1991, after Reubens was arrested for indecent exposure in an adult movie theatre. The role was revived in 2010 with ‘The Pee-wee Herman Show‘ on Broadway and several other appearances. Finally came the movie ‘Pee-wee’s Big Holiday‘, which serves as Reubens’ final film role before death.
