What Is The Colorado Shooting?
On Saturday night, a 22-year-old gunman opened fire inside Club Q, a gay and lesbian nightclub in Colorado Springs. He killed five people and injured at least 25 before he was subdued by “heroic” patrons.
According to the authorities, he was arrested by police who arrived within minutes. Two firearms, including a “long rifle” used during the shooting, were found at the club after the attack.
El Paso County District Attorney Michael Allen has said that investigators are still finding a motive and whether to prosecute it as a hate crime. He said that charges against the suspect “will likely include first-degree murder”.
Cops have identified the gunman as Anderson Lee Aldrich, who is taken into custody and is being treated for injuries.

President Joe Biden Condemns Colorado Shooting
President Biden has condemned the ghastly shooting in a statement while stating that the motive behind it is still not clear. “We know that the LGBTQI+ community has been subjected to horrific hate violence in recent years,” he said.
He continued, “Places that are supposed to be safe spaces of acceptance and celebration should never be turned into places of terror and violence,” he said. “We cannot and must not tolerate hate.”
Colorado Governor Jared Polis was the first openly gay man in the United States to be elected governor in 2018. He called the shooting “sickening” and lend his support to the community.
“My heart breaks for the family and friends of those lost, injured and traumatized,” Polis said. “Colorado stands with our LGTBQ community and everyone impacted by this tragedy as we mourn.”
