Twitter has witnessed a myriad of reactions and actions since the business tycoon and billionaire Elon Musk became its CEO. With the takeover by the new owner, the social media platform is in the midst of many transitions, as Musk wants to monetize the app.
In one of the many ongoing gimmicks, apart from celebrities bailing on Twitter, comedian Kathy Griffin got suspended, the reason being her impersonation of Elon Musk. The SpaceX engineer has changed the rules, and looks like the impersonation of another person is going to be a real deal now.

Elon Musk Gives Kathy Griffin A Chance To Get Her Suspended Account Back For $8
Kathy Griffin, whose full name is Kathleen Mary Griffin, is an Emmy-winning comedian. The 62-year-old on Sunday, November 6, 2022, impersonated Musk, which got her account suspended immediately. She was reported under impersonation when she changed her Twitter name to ‘Elon Musk’. It’s probable that the comedian did it to mock Musk.
On the same day, Musk took to Twitter to reply about her account’s suspension and that Twitter accounts that will impersonate celebrities will get suspended with no prior notice, unlike previous times when one received a warning beforehand. It is not known if her account has been permanently suspended, but after explaining the reason for her account’s suspension, Musk subtly dropped a hint that she can get her account back for $8.

Twitter’s New Guidelines: What Can Get Your Account Suspended?
In another set of tweets, Musk elaborated on the new Twitter guidelines. He stated, “Going forward, any Twitter handles engaging in impersonation without clearly specifying “parody” will be permanently suspended.”
He further added, “Previously, we issued a warning before suspension, but now that we are rolling out widespread verification, there will be no warning. This will be clearly identified as a condition for signing up to Twitter Blue. Any name change at all will cause temporary loss of verified checkmark.”

So the $8 monthly subscription for the verified blue tick mark on Twitter has its own separate guidelines, which the users will have to follow if they do not want to face the consequences of permanent account suspension. Moreover, all parody and fan accounts must distinguish themselves as such in their account name and bio.
