The Golden Globes continues to be a source of embarrassment for Hollywood. The decision to hand the hosting gig to Jo Koy led to one of the most awkward ceremonies in the award show’s history. The first-time host has a night to forget as he bombed the prestigious gig.
The attendees had no option but to sit and suffer silently. Koy is not likely to return. However, he has found support among Whoopi Goldberg and Sara Haines. The hosts believe he’s not to be blamed. They said hosting such a prestigious award show is a nerve-wracking job for any comedian.

‘The View’ Hosts Defend Jo Koy’s Golden Globes Monologue
Now, everyone wants Jo Koy to shut up. ‘The View’ hosts Whoopi Goldberg and Sara Gaines have expressed sympathy for the comedian who had a hard time hosting the Golden Globes 2024. They remain fans of Koy, insisting his worth as a comic shouldn’t be based on one night alone.
Whoopi Goldberg passionately defended the comedian, saying the gig “is a hit or miss” for many first-time hosts. Sara Gaines expressed her support, too, saying, “I’m nervous for him because I think he is so funny.” The fact that the Hollywood elite has no sense of humor was the real problem for her.

Golden Globes 2024 Records 50% More Viewership From Last Year
Despite the rocky start to the awards ceremony, the numbers show that the Golden Globes this year were watched more than last year. CBS and Paramount+ received an average of 9.4 million viewers on Sunday, up 50 percent from last year’s NBC telecast (6.3 million viewers).
The show’s viewership is a little surprising, given the choice of host. Most of Jo Koy’s jokes were flat, be it the Taylor Swift mention or about Robert De Niro’s virility. Worse, he asked the audience “to shut up” and took no time throwing his writers under the bus. Hopefully, lessons were learned.
