Tom Cruise Still The Frontrunner To Play The Evil Iron Man Variant In MCU Phase 6 Despite Repeatedly Turning Down The Role

Robert Downey Jr.‘s departure from the MCU has left an enormous A-lister void. No follow-up films after the departure of Iron Man have come close to Downey’s charisma. Kevin Feige has huge shoes to fill and has turned his attention to hiring Tom Cruise for possible participation in the beloved film franchise. 

Tom Cruise’s name has often come up in the past about playing the billionaire-turned-superhero. But the ‘Jerry Maguire’ star keeps turning any chance to wear the spandex. But Kevin Feige is persistent, chasing Cruise for a critical role in either of the ‘Avengers’ movies. Will the 61-year-old star be open to entering the multiverse?

With the departure of Robert Downey Jr., MCU is lacking core leadership in their movies. Someone with Tom Cruise‘s magnetism and acting chops is perfect to lead the MCU heading forward. Time after time, the ‘Mission: Impossible’ star has been called Downey Jr.’s MCU successor. 

@CanWeGetSomeToast, an insider, still insists Marvel wants the ‘Edge Of Tomorrow actor “some time in the future” in his post, “Like many, Tom Cruise as Superior Iron Man was one of my favorite rumors. He would’ve nailed that version of Tony. I heard they’re still planning on using him some time in the future…”

Rumors about Tom Cruise appearing as the Superior Iron Man started around the release of ‘Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness.’ More reports are coming about how Kevin Feige made it his mission to convince the movie star to play the alternative version of Iron Man. The 61-year-old star is still the first choice to play the Superior Iron Man. The evil variant of Iron Man is said to appear in ‘Avengers: The Kang Dynasty’ or ‘Avengers: Secret Wars.’

The ‘Mission: Impossible’ Star’s Superhero Connection

Tom Cruise’s ‘Spider-Verse’ cameo didn’t pan out.

Tom Cruise has briefly flirted with the idea of being a costumed hero. Soon after the success of ‘Risky Buisness, ‘ Cruise was offered the role during the 80s. But he also came close to playing the friendly neighborhood superhero in ‘Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse.’  According to Slashfilm, Tom Cruise and James Cameron were to appear as voice cameos.

The ‘Mission: Impossible’ star was supposed to voice Peter Parker in ‘Spider-Man: The Motion Picture.’ This was supposed to be the movie Miles’ roommate Ganke watches on television. The duo was to provide the DVD commentary for this film within the film, helpful for Miles Morales in becoming a superhero.
