But Holland isn’t just talking about Peter Parker’s future; he has revealed that discussions about eventually passing the Spider-Man mantle have been happening behind the scenes for years.
Tom Holland Says the Spider-Man Baton Pass Has Been Planned For Years
On the HappySad podcast, Holland revealed that the idea of passing the torch to Miles Morales has been on his mind. Holland says talks about the next Spider-Man started right after the production of ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’.

He didn’t give any specifics on the story, but he did confirm that there is already a plan in place for Peter Parker’s story to eventually lead to another hero becoming the main character. “It’s laid out. It’s gonna change for sure, but I have a really clear vision to the passing on of the baton, and I think it’s really exciting,” he shared.
The actor has been adamant that he doesn’t see himself being Peter forever. Instead, he would like to see the character get a satisfying ending before another Spider-Man comes along. It’s a strategy that Marvel Comics has been following, with Miles Morales being one of the most popular characters in the franchise after Peter.
Caleb McLaughlin Gets Holland’s Vote For Miles
When asked who he would like to see play Miles Morales in live-action, Holland didn’t hesitate with his answer. He personally picked out Caleb McLaughlin, who is known for his role as Lucas Sinclair in Stranger Things.
