The billionaire is not letting it loose. Elon Musk is sticking to all the decisions that have been taken over the past week after acquiring Twitter. The company faced a massive revenue drop yesterday as a growing number of advertisers paused spending on the platform. This was due to the pressure from different activists and organizations.
The Tesla CEO introduced his plan to charge $8 for the blue tick on verified accounts earlier this week. This decision can be seen as a way of recouping the money he spent on buying the platform. From laying off employees to hindering free speech, he is making changes that are not sitting well with most people. But the world’s richest person is adamant.
Elon Musk Is Not Changing His Mind
It was at the start of this month that Musk announced that verified users on Twitter need to pay an $8 monthly fee so as to retain their badges. This would also provide them with access to more features on the app. He also granted them “priorities in replies, mentions, and search” and so on. The backlash started with the news, which aggravated the fear of more such changes being introduced.
As the activist gained a stronghold and the advertisers paused their ads on Twitter, the platform suffered a huge drop in revenue. But the criticisms and losses have not yet affected the Tesla Ceo’s decision. “Trash me all day, but it’ll cost $8,” Musk tweeted on Saturday morning. Activists and Twitter users are raging as the new Twitter boss reiterated his stance on the blue tick fee.

What Has Changed After Musk Took Over?
Other than the $8 fee, there are so many drastic measures taken up by the new CEO. Inside the company, the workforce is facing so much trouble. It is reported that employees have been instructed to work 12-hour shifts, seven days a week in order to meet the deadlines. Or else they would lose their jobs. From firing the CEO and CFO to laying off employees, this is what Musk has been doing for the past week. Bloomberg reported that Musk has eliminated about 3,700 jobs, making it half of the Twitter employees. It was also observed that since Elon Musk closed the deal there has been a surge in conspiracy theories and hate speech on the social media platform.
