Who Was Julie Powell?
Born Julie Foster, Powell is known for her 2005 book ‘Julie & Julia: 365 Days, 524 Recipes, 1 Tiny Apartment Kitchen’ which was based on her successful blog the Julie/Julia Project for salon.com.
The paperback edition of her best-selling book was retitled ‘Julie and Julia: My Year of Cooking Dangerously.’ She started the blog in 2002 which received over 400,000 pageviews by the end of the year.
Her book was later adapted into a film titled ‘Julie & Julia‘, which starred Meryl Streep as Julia Child and Amy Adams as Powell. It drew attention to her book which sold over one million copies.
Powell made a name for herself in the world of cooking with her casual approach to writing about cooking, unlike others. She was also a very friendly and approachable person.

How Did She Die?
Powell died from cardiac arrest on October 26. Her husband Eric Powell informed The New York Times that she died at their home in Olivebridge, New York.
She is survived by her husband, brother, and parents. Judy Chain, Powell’s editor said: “she had so much talent and emotional intelligence.”
“She wrote about food in a really human voice that sounded like people I knew,” food blogger Deb Perelman said. “She communicated that you could write about food even without going to culinary school, without much experience, and in a real-life kitchen.”
Powell started blogging when it was still a relatively new platform for people. In 2009, she published her second book, ‘Cleaving: a Story of Marriage, Meat and Obsession.’
