In a recent podcast episode of Armchair Expert, the winner of Miss World 2000, revealed for the first time why she abandoned her successful Bollywood career to move to the West. The Citadel actress said, “I was being pushed into a corner in the Bollywood industry. I had people not casting me for reasons. I had beef with people … I was tired of the politics and just like, I need a break.” She even shared her immigrant experience moving from India to America, the pay disparity in Bollywood, and the discrimination against dark skin in India.

Priyanka Chopra first experimented with Music signing with Interscope Records in Santa Monica. Chopra said, “This music thing gave me an opportunity to go into another part of the world, not crave for the movies I didn’t want to get but I would require to schmooze certain clubs and cliques of people. It would require groveling and I had worked a long time by then so I didn’t feel like I wanted to do it.” The ‘Baywatch‘ actress also received a lot of judgment and criticism from her “Bollywood peers” for her small appearances in B-grade movies.

Leaving Bollywood might have been the best decision for Priyanka Chopra, who quickly made her name in the foreign world. Starting with Quantico in 2015, which marked her breakthrough in the Hollywood industry. Chopra also revealed how terrified and anxiety-driven she was while auditioning for the role of Alex Parish in ‘Quantico‘, “Because I saw so many other girls in contention for that part, and I worked on it, and I got it…That one audition at that phase in my life really defined me.”

After Quantico, Priyanka Chopra signed four movies in the same year. From FBI agent to now a spy, Chopra is seen combatting along with Richard Madden in the television series ‘Citadel’. Taking a break from the action genre, Chopra will be seen in an upcoming rom-com ‘Love Again’ co-starring Sam Heughan, and Celine Dion, along with a cameo appearance of Nick Jonas, her husband. Despite her beef with people in Bollywood, Chopra is all set to make her exciting comeback in a Farhan Akhtar film ‘Jee Le Zara’ along with Alia Bhatt and Katrina Kaif.
