Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s daughter Lilibet’s first birthday was on June 4. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex celebrated the occasion at Frogmore Cottage in Windsor. It was an intimate and special celebration with a few close friends and family in attendance. The party was attended by Zara and Mike Tindall’s kids and Peter Phillips and Autumn Kelly’s daughters, as well as Harry’s BFFs Charlie and Tom Van Straubenzee, who are godfathers of Archie and his cousin Princess Charlotte, respectively.
However, Harry’s brother Prince William and his wife Kate Middleton were missing from the celebrations. Many people threw shades at the royal couple regarding their absence from the birthday party, while royal fans backed the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
Why Prince William And Kate Chose Not To Attend Lilibet’s Birthday Party
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s daughter’s birthday fell in the same week as that of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations. William and Kate chose not to show their faces at the party as they had prior arrangements. On that very day, Meghan and Harry threw their daughter Lilibet’s extravagant birthday party. While the birthday party was in Windsor, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were in Wales. They took their children for an impromptu visit at Cardiff Castle. However, sources confirmed that the two had received an invitation to the party.
It is no secret that the brothers are not on good terms with each other. William has not spent time with Harry in a long time. At Cardiff Castle, Princess Charlotte and Prince George were a part of a lovely walk, during which fans were totally awestruck. After the couple and their children returned back to London, they went to the royal family box to watch the concert on the evening of July 4, at Buckingham Palace.
Royal Commentator Says They Already Planned The Visit Long Before
Royal commentator, Victoria Arbiter, took to Twitter to explain the reason behind the Royal couple’s absence: “Buckingham palace announced on May 20 that the duke and Duchess of Cambridge would be in Wales on June 4. The visit have been planned long before them. It’s nit accurate to say ‘declined’ the invitation to Lilli Bet’s birthday party. They had jubilee related Responsibilities.”
Fans came to back up their beloved royal couple Will and Kate over the matter of their absence.
