Why Was ‘Housing Complex C’ Not Released In Japan?

Generally, animes are released in Japan and are then dubbed in English or other languages in other countries. People who prefer watching anime with subtitles can watch the anime a few days after it releases in Japan. But people, who prefer dub in their languages, may have to wait for a week or two for the dubbed version to release. 

The recently aired anime ‘Housing Complex C‘ has reversed this cycle. This anime has already been released in Canada and the United States, but its release in Japan is questionable. It was aired in dub through Adult Swims; Toonami block. There was no stir nor any questions about the anime’s release in Japan. Let’s find out why.

What Is The Plot Of ‘Housing Complex C‘?

‘Housing Complex C‘ is set in the coastal town of Kurosaki and follows a young, free-spirited girl living in a low-cost housing complex. Her name is Kimi Shirokado. One day, another girl name Yuri Koshide moves into her housing complex and the two of them become fast friends.

A few days after that, however, something strange begins to happen. The housing property is mysteriously filled with dead animals and the other residents of the building start disappearing. The strangest thing, however, is the growth of a weird kind of moss in the apartments of the missing people. 

The series only has four episodes and the story is quite fast-paced. The conclusion is very shocking and interesting. 

Why Was It Not Released In Japan?

‘Housing Complex C‘ is not the first anime to not be aired in Japan. In Japan, only two out of three seasons of ‘Sonic The Hedgehog‘ were released at first and it was in 2020 that the final season was finally made available. That was due to the ‘Sonic The Hedgehog‘ movie that premiered in Japan. 

There is a big possibility that ‘Housing Complex C‘ might be released in Japan. A series sometimes do not receive an English dub or English release due to a lack of popularity in the western world. That same scenario may be happening to be with ‘Housing Complex C‘. the creators may feel that the concept of the anime may be more suited for a western audience and they are not pushing for a release in Japan. 

Another reason might be that even if the anime was released in Japan, it might not do well. There are many new and very popular animes releasing in Japan currently, for instance, ‘Chainsaw Man‘ and ‘Bleach-Thousand Year Blood War Arc‘. ‘Housing Complex C‘ may be overshadowed by these animes and its release in Japan may be unfruitful. These are the possible reasons why ‘Housing Complex C‘ is not releasing Japan.
