What Was Donald Trump Convicted Of?
Former President Donald Trump was found guilty in a historic criminal trial on May 30, 2024. The jury convicted him on all 34 felony counts of falsifying business records to cover up a 2006 sexual encounter with Stormy Daniels by paying her. This verdict marks the first time a former U.S. president has been convicted of a crime.
In response to the verdict, Trump characterized the trial as a “disgrace” and criticized the judge. His attorney made a motion for acquittal, which was denied. Additionally, Trump now faces the possibility of up to four years in prison, probation, or an appeal.
This conviction has significant implications, as it raises questions about whether a convicted felon can serve as president. Additionally, De Niro has consistently maintained that Trump should face consequences for his actions, regardless of the trial’s outcome.
