Elon Musk has been trying his best to revamp Twitter into an all-encapsulating platform to boost revenue. However, the road to these transformations has been tempestuous for the billionaire. Since the acquisition of the platform after a legal battle, the revenue has started dwindling. This was due to advertisers starting to pull out their advertisements after activists’ lobbying.
Therefore, Elon Musk executed solutions to improve revenue. As a first step, he laid off many employees due to heavy losses. Next, he introduced the $8-per-month subscription, which was a debacle during its first launch. Later, he reintroduced it with special exclusive features for the subscribers, calling it ‘Twitter Blue.’ Since then, Musk has been introducing many new features for the subscribers, like two-step message authentication, payments, and allowing political and marijuana advertisements. Now, in another move, he has launched the long-form video option.

Twitter Blue Subscribers Can Upload Videos Upto 8GB
In November 2022, a month after acquiring Twitter, Elon Musk wrote an email to his employees regarding monetization options for the content creators on the platform. In the email, he emphasized preventing the flow of free traffic to YouTube by introducing a feature for creators to upload their content. The aim is to enable them to earn “maybe slightly more, on YouTube or TikTok or whatever the case may be.”
After six months, in May 2023, Elon Musk introduced the long-form video feature. In a tweet, he announced, “Twitter Blue Verified subscribers can now upload 2 hour videos (8GB)!” Since the announcement, Twitteratis have been utilizing the feature to upload movies and other content. One of the users uploaded the ‘Shrek 3’ movie, but Twitter took the video down due to copyright infringement.
