“Couldn’t Understand His Brother’s Obsession With Middleton In-Laws”: Why Prince Harry Hated Kate Middleton’s Family?

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have feuded with several members of the royal family since their exit. In recent times, the couple has maligned the image of the family members through various content pieces, including the Netflix docuseries ‘Harry & Meghan,’ where they leveled accusations against Prince William and Kate Middleton.

However, the strife between Kate Middleton and Prince Harry is not new! Harry has felt insecure since Prince William started expanding his family. The Duke of Sussex felt displaced after the birth of George and Charlotte. In ‘The Palace Papers: Inside the House of Windsor, the Truth, and the Turmoil,’ Tina Brown has made observations about Harry hating Kate’s family due to the increased closeness of William to his in-laws.

Tina Brown, in her latest book about the royal family, especially Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, observed the growing distance between the royal brothers. The author claims that Prince Harry and Prince William’s relationship has not been the same since he married Kate Middleton. The distance grew more after the birth of Princess Charlotte in 2015.

The author writes, “Though they were still ‘incredibly close, living next door to each other [at Kensington Palace], sharing the same office, and hanging out an awful lot.’ “ However, Harry “mourned his us-against-the-world bond with William.”

Brown writes that Prince Harry felt “displaced” amidst the Buckleburys, and they bored him to tears. In the book, she writes, “Harry felt displaced by their bougie family unit, and couldn’t understand his brother’s obsession with his Middleton in-laws, whose Bucklebury world bored Harry to tears. The [Waleses] had become a tight unit, and William a full-on Windsor country bumpkin.”

She continued, “On weekends when he wasn’t chez Middleton, he was tramping the grounds of Anmer Hall, the red-brick Georgian mansion on the Sandringham Estate that the Queen gave the couple as a wedding present, wearing a flat cap and tweed jacket like his ‘turnip toff’ Norfolk farmer friends.”

During the controversial Oprah interview with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in 2021, Megan alleged that a royal family member raised concern over Prince Archie’s skin color. The Palace released an official statement about the same.

A part of the statement read, “The issues raised, particularly that of race, are concerning. While some recollections may vary, they are taken very seriously and will be addressed by the family privately.”

A source told Valentine Low, the author of ‘Courtiers: The Hidden Power Behind The Crown’ that Kate Middleton was behind formulating the statement.

The source told Low, “The debate was, do you rise entirely above it and offer the olive branch of [Harry and Meghan being] ‘much-loved members of the family’ ? Or is there some moment when you have to intervene and offer a view?”

As per the source, Kate Middleton made a point with the statement, allegedly saying, “History will judge this statement, and unless this phrase or a phrase like it is included, everything that they have said will be taken as true.”
