Why Meghan Markle’s Father Thomas Markle Was Not Present At Her Wedding?
Surely, the wedding ceremony of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry was no less than a fairytale. All of the attendees and people who watched it on TV were blown away. The ceremony took place according to Christian traditions as all royal weddings do. In the same, the bride’s father walks her down the aisle on D-day. Unfortunately, Meghan’s father Thomas Markle could not attend the wedding. This was because he underwent heart surgery days before the wedding.
During that time, Meghan made the announcement that her father would, regrettably, “not be attending our wedding” by posting a statement on Twitter. In a separate statement, she said, “I have always cared for my father, and I hope that he may be given the space he needs to focus on his health.” Therefore, someone else had to do the job.
A few weeks after the wedding, Thomas gave an interview in which he revealed that he “certainly wanted to lead his daughter down the aisle, but that he was honored that Prince Charles took his place.”
In June, he expressed his thoughts on the matter to Good Morning Britain, saying, “I can’t think of a better replacement than someone like Prince Charles. He had a really dashing appearance, and my lovely daughter looked stunning in his company. It made me envious, and I wished both that I had been there and that it had been me. But praise be to God, he was present.”
Camilla, Charles’ wife and now Queen Consort, also noted the tender exchange that took place between the groom’s father and his son. This was while watching the wedding after the fact on video.

How Did Prince Harry Ask Prince Charles To Take Meghan’s Dad’s Place?
Prince Harry, being a great man he is asked his father King Charles to walk Meghan down the aisle. Harry made the revelation about the moment. The Duke of Sussex is quoted saying, “I asked him to and I think he knew it was coming and he quickly said. ‘Yes, of course, I’ll do whatever Meghan wants and I’m here to support you,” Charles replied to Harry. “For him (Charles), that’s a fantastic opportunity to step up and be that support, and you know that he’s our father so of course he’s going to be there for us,” Harry said.
On the day of the wedding, the groom expressed his appreciation to both his father and his wife as soon as they arrived at the altar. During the course of the ceremony, it was overheard that he was saying, “Thank you, Pa” to Charles.
In reference to the kind and uncomplicated act, Harry remarked, “You are required to express gratitude. Simply because he is my father does not mean that I can simply say Okay, that’s all. I’ll take it from here, and be done with the situation.” According to People, he then swiftly followed up his statement with a joke, saying, “Err, no, that is what I intended to say but err… and I was really glad for him to be able to do that.”
