“I Haven’t Scraped The Surface”: Meghan Markle Opens Up About Having Suicidal Thoughts During Her Time In The Royal Family

Meghan Markle has always been open about her mental state after leaving The Royal Family for her own good. She has talked about her condition for which she received a lot of hate and even online bullying. Markle also recently opened up about her struggles with suicidal thoughts.

The Duchess of Sussex shared about her condition during that time and how she healed after that. She believes that her journey should be inspirational to people.

Meghan Markle recently discussed openly her struggles with her suicidal thoughts as she and Prince Harry launched The Parent’s Network through their Archewell foundation. Markle revealed that she hasn’t completely shared her mental health issues with the world.

The Duchess Of Sussex shared with CBS, “When you’ve been through any level of pain or trauma, I believe part of our healing journey (certainly part of mine) is being able to be open about it.”

Meghan Markle added, “And you know, I haven’t scraped the surface of my experience. But I do think that I would never want someone else to feel that way. And I would never want someone else to be making those sorts of plans. And I would never want someone else to not be believed.”

She further continued that sharing her experiences openly might save someone’s life and raise awareness about the thoughts of suicide. Moreover, she encouraged people to check on their loved ones often while she was also ready to face the backlash after the statements made.

Meghan Markle Didn’t Receive The Help She Needed While Struggling With Suicidal Thoughts

In a 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey, Meghan Markle also shared about the same topic and discussed how didn’t receive the help she needed when she considered suicide, according to Deadline. She was a part of The Royals back then and even faced a heavy backlash after her statements.

Meghan Markle shared with Winfrey, “Look, I was really ashamed to say it at the time and ashamed to admit it to Harry, especially because I know how much loss he has suffered. But I knew that if I didn’t say it, I would do it … and I just didn’t want to be alive anymore.”

Considering all of this, Meghan and Prince Harry have created The Parent’s Network which helps those who have lost their child due to social media and aims to make a safer environment for everyone including their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

Meghan Markle told CBS, that their primary motive is to protect their children from the cruel world outside and create an awareness about online presence. They are also grateful to create a positive change. She stated, “We know that there’s a lot of work to be done there, and we’re just happy to be able to be a part of change for good“.
