The royal family drama has never been tamed, and it has intensified with the new shocking developments in the Danish royal family. The current monarch of Denmark, Queen Margrethe II, has decided to abdicate her throne for her son, Prince Frederik, amidst the cheating scandal. While the decision of the queen is hailed, there is a growing urge towards King Charles III to abdicate his almost two-year throne for his son, Prince William.
In September 2022, Queen Elizabeth II, the longest-serving monarch of Britain, passed away. The next in succession was King Charles III, who, after taking over the professional duties of the monarch, became the king of Britain with his wife, Camilla, becoming the queen. But, after the shocking transition of Elizabeth’s cousin, Queen Margarethe II, there is a growing demand for Prince William to ascend the throne like Prince Frederik.

King Charles May Follow Queen Elizabeth II’s Footsteps And Refuse Abdication
The abdication of the throne by Queen Margrethe II of Denmark has spread ripples of joy among the subjects. However, the decision to abdicate the throne for her son, Prince Frederik, has caused tension between the monarchies across Europe. The decision has especially caused a stir in the British royal family, as there is an increasing demand for King Charles to follow in the footsteps of the monarch of Denmark.
An exclusive report by Phil Dampier of the Daily Mail speculates that King Charles III may abdicate the throne for Prince William and Kate Middleton while they are young. Phil said, “It must make you wonder if in five or ten years’ time, King Charles might think about doing the same if his health suffers or he just thinks it is a good time to pass on to William and Kate while they are still young.”
Phil Dampier continued, “Our late Queen would never abdicate because of what happened in 1936 when her uncle abdicated and her father came to the throne. But times change.”
As Phil said, Queen Elizabeth II regretted the abdication of Edward III, which caused great tension for her father, King George VI. She always opposed the abdication decision.
Joe Little, a reporter, said, “I think Charles follows his mother’s reasoning in many ways. At the moment it doesn’t make sense to compare him to monarchs of a similar age who have been on the throne for decades as his reign is still new and he is in good health.” However, the decision becomes inevitable if his health deteriorates.

Why Queen Margrethe II Abdicating From Her Throne?
In the 1970s, Queen Margrethe ascended the throne and became the monarch of Denmark after her father, Frederick IX. Like Queen Elizabeth II, she had been the reigning queen. She was firm in her decision to be the monarch until her last breath.
However, on New Year’s Eve, she announced that she would be abdicating the throne, and her eldest son, Prince Frederik, and his wife, Mary, would become the king and queen of Denmark.
Why did Queen Margrethe II make the decision? The decision came on the heels of Prince Frederik’s cheating scandal. During Mary’s visit to New York, he was spotted and clicked with a Mexican socialite, Genoveva Casanova, in Spain. While Genoveva claims that it was a pure, platonic meeting, the marital status of the Crowned King and Queen looks murky.
Queen Margrethe II cited the reason for her back surgery in February 2023: abdication. She said that now “would be an appropriate time to pass on the responsibility to the next generation.”
