While many have speculated that the ruined father-son relationship between Prince Harry and King Charles is beyond repair, the two are seemingly trying to mend it in the face of adversity, Prince Harry, who has been estranged and living away from the royal family in Los Angeles, jetted off to meet his father immediately after he got the news of his cancer diagnosis. Now King Charles is also reportedly desperate to mend his relationship with his estranged son.

Royal Expert Says King Charles Has All The Intentions To Make Amends With Prince Harry
King Charles has reportedly expressed a strong desire to mend fences with his estranged son, Prince Harry after the monarch’s recent cancer diagnosis. Royal expert Katie Nicholl told Entertainment Tonight on Tuesday that the father now “desperately wants to reconcile with Harry.”
As soon as Buckingham Palace announced King Charles’ cancer diagnosis on Monday, his 39-year-old son, the Duke of Sussex, immediately boarded a plane from California to London to be at his father’s side during this challenging time. Talking about the emotional reunion between father and son, Nicholl noted that Charles had personally informed Harry of the diagnosis.
“His father personally telephoned him to inform him of his cancer diagnosis, [and] Harry jumped on “The king would have been hugely relieved and comforted by the fact that Harry flew over,” she said, pointing out that the meeting was “probably quite difficult for both of them.”
But she also clarified that the meeting played a pivotal role in easing tensions between the two. “I think it’s absolutely fundamental and important and healing the rift,” she said.

King Charles “Loves His Son” Despite What Harry Has Said Or Done, Says Royal Expert
Nicholl also deemed Harry’s reunion with his dad an indicator of “a real thawing in the relations between Charles and his son.” “I know, for Charles, the door has always been left open regardless of some of the things Harry has written,” she said, referring to Harry’s ‘Spare‘, wherein he had claimed that Charles had called him the spare heir to the British throne.
“I was told by a source very close to the king that whatever Harry has said or done, he loves his son,” she added. The expert further asserted that Charles has every intention of repairing their relationship.
She said the king wants to “have a relationship with his daughter-in-law and his grandchildren,” referring to Harry’s wife Meghan Markle, and her two kids Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. “I think when someone has a serious health scare like this, it does make you reassess things, and I think that’s why Harry got on the first flight he could,” Nicholl added.
With Prince Harry taking the initiative to be by his father’s side during a health crisis, it seems that the family dynamics might soon undergo a positive shift after a prolonged bitter drama. However, the reconciliation with Prince William remains uncertain, as the brothers have been on icy terms since Harry and Meghan stepped down from royal duties in 2020.
