Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are defeating the purpose of stepping down from their royal duties. One of the reasons that they exited the Royal Family was the constant media attention which was becoming borderline intrusive. However, in the recent past, the couple has been in the media for all the wrong reasons. The content that they have been churning out has attacked the Royal Family in several instances. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex also wanted an out from the strict protocol that being a royal family member ensues. However, the couple has been flouting them, collectively and individually.
Since Prince Harry started dating Meghan Markle, there have been many royal traditions that they did not heed. For instance, before their marriage, Harry brought Markle to the festivities of the Late Queen Elizabeth II. The actress became the first mixed-race divorcee to have married the Royal Family. She did not walk down the aisle with her biological father; instead, King Charles III walked her down the aisle. Now, they have disregarded the elaborate, traditional christening ceremony of their daughter—Lilibet ‘Lili’ Diana Mountbatten-Windsor.

Prince Harry And Meghan Markle Flouts Royal Traditions During Lilibet’s Christening
After moving to the USA, Prince Harry, and Meghan Markle welcomed their second child—Lilibet Diana on June 4th, 2021. After birth, the Royal Family’s newborn needs to have a traditional baptism ceremony at the Church of England. The descendants of the Royal Family have passed down several traditions.
For instance, since the birth of Victoria in 1841, there has been a Honiton lace christening gown that newborns should wear during the ceremony. The senior clerics of the church use River Jordan’s water for baptism.
However, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex did not follow the conventional baptism ceremony for their daughter. The couple was aiming to hold the ceremony at Windsor, but due to the rift created between them and the Royal Family, they did not. So, they held the ceremony in California at their residence. No one from the Royal Family attended the ceremony despite the invitations.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s spokesperson gave an official statement regarding the christening ceremony. The spokesperson said, “I can confirm that Princess Lilibet Diana was christened on Friday, March 3 by the Archbishop of Los Angeles, the Rev John Taylor.” The Archbishop of Canterbury baptized the eldest son of the couple, which has been the tradition since Harry’s birth.
Lilibet got christened when she was 21 months old while the other children were baptized before they turned six months. She, reportedly, did not wear the traditional christening gown at the ceremony. In 2008, the Royal Family made a replica of the laced gown, but Lili wore casual clothes during her christening as per reports. During the ceremony, as per reports, there were only 20-30 guests which included Doria Ragland, Meghan’s mother, and Lilibet’s godfather, Tyler Perry.
