Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are still struggling to win their privacy since they stepped down from their royal duties in 2020. The couple decided to take that step after receiving heavy scrutiny from the media and ill treatment from the royal family. The main reason for Harry and Meghan to leave the royal family was to preserve their privacy.
However, since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle left the royal family, the couple is embroiled in legal lawsuits they filed against several media outlets. It includes Mirror Group Newspapers, Murdoch’s News Group, and the Associated Newspapers. The couple sued the latter for libel when they reported that Harry misled people over his fight with the government to retain security. However, the Duke of Sussex has lost the lawsuit.

Prince Harry Has To Pay Over $60,000 To Daily On Sunday
In March 2023, along with Elton John and other celebrities, Prince Harry sued Associated Newspapers Limited (ANL). However, Harry filed a separate libel lawsuit against ANL for reporting that he misled the public by hiding the battle he was fighting for retaining personal security in the UK after he stepped down from royal duties as a working royal.
In a judgment, Justice Matthew Nicklin has upheld the ANL’s argument that the article about Prince Harry was an “honest opinion” and did not result in “serious harm” to Harry’s reputation. Justice Matthew proclaimed that Associated Newspapers had a “real prospect of succeeding.” Prince Harry has to pay $60,000 to the Mail on Sunday in legal fees by December 29, 2023.

Harry Is Challenging Government’s Decision To Not Provide Security In High Court
When Meghan Markle and Prince Harry stepped down from their royal duties, they were no longer working royals. Due to this, they lost several privileges that a working royal enjoyed, including personal security provided by the UK police.
Along with the royal family, the Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures (RAVEC) decided to no longer provide special security to the couple in the UK.
Prince Harry has now challenged the government’s decision in the British High Court. Harry also pleaded to pay for the personal security, but the Duke of Sussex has lost the bid. He has challenged the decision again.
Prince Harry’s lawyers argued that the RAVEC “should have considered the ‘impact’ that a successful attack on [Harry] would have, bearing in mind his status, background, and profile within The Royal Family—which he was born into and which he will have for the rest of his life—and his ongoing charity work and service to the public.”
