Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are no longer ‘working royals’ after they stepped back from their royal duties in 2020. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, after leaving the royal family, lost the privileges they had as working royals. The privileges also included special security provided by the UK police force. However, the Duke of Sussex challenged the decision, but the government rejected his bind. Now that he is contesting the decision in the High Court, his barrister confessed that he was forced to step back from his royal duties.

Prince Harry And Meghan Markle Felt Forced To Step Back From Royal Duties
Prince Harry has now appealed in the High Court the previous decision of the Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures (RAVEC) to not allow special police protection for him during his UK visits. During the hearing, Harry’s barrister, Shaheed Fatima KC, made it clear that the plaintiff was made to step back from his royal duties.
Shaheed Fatima KC read Prince Harry’s witness statement, where he said, “It was with great sadness for the both of us that my wife and I felt forced to step back from this role and leave the country in 2020.” He also made it clear in his statement that he does not want to put his wife in danger, and due to some past experiences, he is also reluctant to put his life in danger.
The lawyer for Prince Harry also argued that the RAVEC must have considered the impact that Prince Harry would have if he got attacked, bearing in mind his background, status, and standing within the family. The lawyers also asked the committee that they should have “considered, in particular, the impact on the UK’s reputation of a successful attack on [Harry].”

Now, as per Newsweek, the royals have to face “a bill in Parliament to strip the Duke and Duchess of Sussex of their royal titles.” A Conservative Party member, Bob Seely, has proposed the idea of introducing a bill to strip the couple of their titles as they “trash an institution that plays an important part in our nation.”
