Prince William Admits 2024 Was The “Hardest Year” Of His Life Amid His Wife And Father’s Cancer Diagnosis

The royal house saw some pretty difficult days in the year that went by with both King Charles and Princess Kate Middleton diagnosed with cancer. While reports suggest that both have them have recovered after the diagnosis, rumors are also floating that Buckingham Palace has already started preparing for the monarch’s funeral.

Amid all of this, Prince Willaim, the eldest son of the monarch, has perhaps faced the most adversities as the health scare hit the royal family. Opening up more about it recently, the Prince of Wales has candidly told South African media that 2024 has been “probably the hardest year” of his life. Here’s everything he said.

Prince William had to deal with both his wife Princess Catherine and his father King Charles getting diagnosed with cancer. If that isn’t a colossal nightmare, we don’t know what is. “It’s been awful,” said William, responding to reporters in South Africa who asked him how the year has been for the royal family amid the health scares and other issues.

So, trying to get through everything else and keep everything on track has been very tough,” he added. The royal house started the year by announcing that King Charles of Buckingham Palace had been diagnosed with cancer in February.

Six weeks later, Catherine, the princess, was also diagnosed and had to start chemotherapy. Despite their heavy health battles, both members of the royal family have been pushing through with their recoveries. King Charles returned to public duties while Catherine slowly emerged from hiding.

The Princess of Wales is expected to make her first major public appearance this weekend with a visit to the Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall on Saturday evening and then to the Sunday service at the Cenotaph.

I’m so proud of my wife, I’m proud of my father, for handling the things that they have done, frankly,” William said, admiringly revealing how both have coped with their respective health issues. “But from a personal family point of view, it’s been brutal,” he revealed.

Prince William claimed Princess Catherine has been “really well” and “amazing this whole year,” adding emphasis to how strong she’s proved through her recovery. The couple, who have been dating since 2003 and married since 2011, are still unified and strong.

After a prolonged absence from public life, the Princess of Wales released a video message, in which she claimed to be hopeful and resilient despite her illness. “Despite all that has gone before, I enter this new phase of recovery with a renewed sense of hope and appreciation of life,” she said.

Catherine also extended a message of solidarity to all those facing similar battles, saying “To all those who are continuing their own cancer journey – I remain with you, side by side, hand in hand.”

The public statements of the royal family on further battling and struggle with their private struggles have given great solace to well-wishers scattered in every corner of the globe.
