Before becoming the Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton had a side of hers that made Prince William fall in love with her! The couple met each other in college at St. Andrews in Scotland. It was not after they graduated that Kate and William started dating. However, it was a fashion show at their college in 2002 that stumped the Prince of Wales.
Netflix’s most celebrated original series, The Crown, will bid the fans adieu with the last part of season six. The first part explored the death of Princess Diana and the aftermath of it. The critics and audience gave a poor review of the season due to Diana’s portrayal in a poor light. But, with the last part, the makers will explore the blooming romance between Prince William and Kate Middleton. The series will also show Meg Bellamy, who plays Kate Middleton, performing the fashion show.

Kate Middleton’s Fashion Show Made Prince William Fall In Love With Kate Middleton
In the year 2001, at Saint Andrews College in Scotland, fate made Kate Middleton and Prince William meet. The two were enrolled in the same Art History program. However, Kate and William did not cross their romantic paths until 2002. Knowingly or unknowingly, Kate was successful in seducing Prince William during a charity fashion event at their college.
In the new season of ‘The Crown’, we will see Prince William paying £200 to sit in the front row to enjoy the fashion show. The theme of the event was ‘The Art of Seduction’, and Kate was successful in living up to the theme after she made the future monarch of the British royalty fall in love with her.
The dress was a transparent knitted fabric with a blue ribbon, which was made for £50 at the time by her friend Charlotte Tod. Tod, during an interview, said that she did not design the dress keeping the Princess of Wales in mind. She said, “Everyone says that the fashion show was when the romance started, so a small part of me will always be part of royal history. It’s madness!” The dress was sold at an auction in 2011 for £65,000.

Meg Bellamy Was Nervous To Portray The Fashion Show Scene In ‘The Crown’
The second part of the sixth and last season of ‘The Crown’ will premiere in December 2023 on Netflix. During the new season, the makers have kept the blooming romance between Prince William, played by Ed McVey, and Kate Middleton, played by Meg Bellamy. From their first meeting at Saint Andrew’s College to their wedding, the new season is all set to bid adieu to the celebrated show.
During an interview with Vanity Fair, Meg Bellamy talked about how she was nervous about playing out the fashion show scene in ‘The Crown’. She said, “I was nervous about [that scene] because it felt like a big deal, and filming had felt so relaxed leading up to it. This felt like a looming thing.”
It was a pivotal moment in the love story of Prince William and Kate Middleton, so it was a given that Meg Bellamy was nervous. However, once the scene played out, her experience was seamless.
She added, “But the reality was as soon as I got there and understood what the vibe was, it was great. You had Kylie Minogue blasting, and the crowd was cheering, and the director Erik Richter Strand made it so comfortable.”
