The first three episodes of the new Netflix docuseries ‘Harry & Meghan’ were released on December 10, 2022. The docuseries shows how being a royal family member transitioned Meghan Markle‘s life. The change started as she married Prince Harry. However, this was not her first marriage. Her first marriage was to Trevor Engelson.

Trevor Engelson: Meghan’s First Husband
Meghan Markle’s first marriage played a crucial role in her marriage to Prince Harry. And her first husband, Engelson is a film producer and talent manager, known for the romantic movie ‘Remember Me’ starring Robert Pattinson. He manages and deals with screenwriters, directors, writers, and actors. Trevor had been five years older than Meghan.
Engelson met Meghan Markle in 2004 and the duo dated for six years. The pair engaged in 2010. Finally, they tied the knot in 2011. The wedding took place in Jamaica with the celebrations extending up to four days. After two years, the marriage came to an abrupt end surprising many of the couple’s friends. Later, Engelson married Tracey Kurland in 2019 and has two children.

Why Did Meghan’s First Marriage End In Divorce?
Finally, the marriage came to an end in 2013, citing “irreconcilable differences“. According to Andrew Morton’s ‘Meghan: A Hollywood Princess’, the divorce had come “totally out of the blue” as testimonies by some of their friends. There were also people who were surprised by the abrupt end of the couple’s marriage. Markle sent back the engagement rings via registered post to her ex-husband.
The actress has divorced her first husband as she found he was “embarrassing”, said one of her childhood friends in Morton’s book. Another reason noted is the fact that the two had to live apart for their careers. Meghan starred in ‘Suits’ which was filmed in Toronto while Trevor worked back in the United States. Lady Colin Campbell in her book ‘Meghan and Harry: The Real Story’ noted that the couple was different in their behaviors with Trevor being more laid back while Meghan was controlling.
