It has been five months since the tragic loss of the monarch of Britain, Queen Elizabeth II. Now, her son King Charles III will ascend to the throne. He has already started executing the duties conferred upon the monarch. However, he has not yet been crowned the King through an official coronation ceremony which will be held on May 6th, 2023.
The Royal Family has been a patron of the arts and culture. They have supported artists from all walks of life with various honors and accolades. The family also invites these artists to perform at various crucial events. In July 2022, during the celebration of Queen Elizabeth II’s reign, artists like Rod Stewart, Diana Ross, and Duran Duran performed. Ed Sheeran also performed an aching rendition of ‘Perfect’. However, for King’s coronation, he will not be present to perform along with another British singer Adele.

King Charles III Was Keen On Having Ed Sheeran And Adele Perform At His Coronation
Both Ed Sheeran and Adele have had a packed and rewarding 2022. The two released their albums in 2022. Adele released ’30’ and Ed Sheeran came out with ‘=’ (British artists have a thing for mathematics!). The albums did wonders on the Billboard list. The ‘Perfect’ crooner bagged his fourth No.1 album on Billboard 200 with the album. The ‘Easy On Me’ artist did not win the ‘Album of the Year’ at the Grammy Awards, but her ’30’ became the global album of the year in 2022.
The two global artists were to perform at one of the most awaited Royal ceremonies of 2023. On May 6th, 2023, King Charles will be officially crowned at Westminster Abbey. It will be an elaborate affair with the Prime Minister and the entire country involved.
Many foreign delegates including politicians, journalists, socialites, and elites will be attending the ceremony. However, as per OK! Magazine report, Adele and Ed Sheeran will not mark their presence. King Charles was keen to have the two perform at the most significant ceremony.
An insider said, “The King has suggested a number of people he would like to perform and Adele and Ed were on that list. He was very keen that they were part of the concert”.

Why The Two Artists Could Not Perform At The Concert?
The organizers of the event reached out to their respective teams for confirmation, but they received disappointment. An insider said, “There is a team set up to get the talent signed up so they approached the two of them, but got replies saying that they were unavailable, which was a massive disappointment. They are titans of the showbiz industry and are quintessentially British but also known across the globe. It’s such a shame”.
Currently, Adele is busy with her Las Vegas Residency called ‘Weekends with Adele’. The residency had a tumultuous journey of its own. It should have been started in January 2022, but due to technical and logistics issues, it was postponed to November 2022. The residency is currently held at the Colosseum at the Caesars Palace.
As for Ed Sheeran, he will kickstart the North American leg of his global ‘Mathematics Tour’ to promote his album ‘=’. On the coronation day, he will be performing his first concert in Arlington, Texas. Its last show will be in California in September 2023. Artists like Russ, Khalid, Cat Burns, and others will be headlining the shows during the tour.
