What Does Adele Want To Do After Her Musical Hiatus?

No other artist than Adele can give us Blues, Pop, Country, and Jazz feels packed in an album. She has emerged as a tour de force with a high-octane voice, but a down-to-earth personality. With her second album, she created history becoming the only artist in the history of Billboard to have three songs charting at No.1 with the album also charting.

Now, after four albums and numerous tours, and Grammys, the artist is going for a Las Vegas Residency before another hiatus. The singer released a video to the song ‘I Drink Wine’ from her fourth studio album ’30’. During a Q&A session in LA, she revealed what she wishes to pursue while taking a hiatus from music.

In 2016, when Adele was touring for her third studio album ’25’, she wanted to take a break to focus on her family. However, during the pursuit of music, she lost the fun of being a university student. She said, “I’m desperate to go to university. I know that sounds ridiculous but it’s one thing I really plan on doing.” After six years, the wish is still intact.

Adele launched the music video for the song ‘I Drink Wine’ on Wednesday in Los Angeles. The Grammy-winning artist has been ruling the chart and became a household name for her soulful, immaculate voice that still strikes a chord with many. Nothing changed when she released her studio album ’30’. But, the artist seems to be more inclined toward academics than making music.

During a Q&A session with fans, Adele confessed she regrets not going to the university. Now, she wants to study hard and focus on academics post her Las Vegas Residency. She said, “After Vegas, I really want to get a degree in English Literature. If I hadn’t made it in my singing, I think I would definitely be a teacher.”

The artist continued, “I definitely feel like I use my passion of English Lit in what I do. But even though it’s not like I’d go on to get a job from my degree, I wish I had gone to university, I wish I’d had that experience.”  Her plans for 2025 are to hire a tutor and learn English Literature. How refreshing!

The last time Adele ascended the stairs of an educational institution was in 2006 when she graduated from Brits School. Post that, she went on to pursue her passion for music and the rest is history! This was not the first time that the ‘Easy On Me’ singer expressed her desire to attend uni.

In 2016, she confessed, “I was about to start university in Liverpool in England and then I got offered a record deal, so I was like, ‘Ugh, what do I do?’ Obviously, I took the record deal which I don’t regret at all.”

However, she had a full circle moment during the ITV ‘An Audience With Adele’. During the show, when Emma Thompson asks her about Adele’s inspiration while growing up, she said, “I had a teacher at Chestnut Grove, that was Miss McDonald. She got me into English literature, but she also did dance. She was just so bloody cool, so engaging, and she really made us care.”

In a wholesome, heart-warming moment Thompson brought Miss McDonald out. The two shared a stage for a minute or so, where Adele told her she still got those books. English teachers are the best!
