Three-Eyed Raven’s Origin And Identity Explained After 13 Years By ‘Game Of Thrones’ Prequel ‘House Of The Dragon’

As season 2 of ‘House of the Dragon‘ comes to a close, it has sparked theories, questions, and our interests. A 13-year-old theory ofGame of Thrones fandom has finally been answered among these. The season 2 finale revealed the identity of the Three-eyed raven. This character was among the most powerful and influential in the ‘Game of Thrones‘ series, carrying the magic of the old gods.

However, its HBO series did little justice in revealing much about the Three-eyed Raven. In the millennia there have been many three-eyed ravens. And the prequel finally answers over a decade-old mystery.

In the final episode of the House of the Dragon, the identity of the three-eyed raven is confirmed in Daemon Targaryen’s vision guided by the weirwood tree. When Daemon touches the trunk of the faced trunk, he sees visions of the dance of the dragon, Daenerys, the hatching of the three eggs, the White Walker, and his death, and confirms the identity of the three-eyed raven as Brynden Rivers.

In Daemon’s vision, a boy appears with a red birthmark on his face that looks like a raven and is attached to a weirwood tree. The only person with that description in the fantasy series is Brynden Rivers. He is the bastard son of King Aegon IV and Melissa Blackwood.

Brynden Rivers was born in 175 AC, around 45 years after the Dance of the Dragons. He was the great bastard son of King Aegon IV, which means that he was legitimized by his father. He had a blood-red birthmark on his face that gave him the name of Blood Raven. There he was Hand to the King. However, Brynden was sent to the Wall to join the Night’s Watch for killing Aenys Blackfyre, a would-be claimant to the throne.

He was sentenced to the Wall at the same time as Maester Aemon. There he rose to the position of Lord Commander of the Night’s Watch. However, he went beyond the Wall never to return. Interestingly, Brynden carried the Dark Sister, the Valyrian steel sword currently wielded by Daemon Targaryen, his great-grandfather.
