Prime Video Axes ‘Gen V’ After 2 Seasons, Teases Big Comeback in ‘The Boys’ Final Chapter

In Short
  • Prime Video has canceled 'Gen V' after two seasons, ending the spinoff series.
  • Characters from 'Gen V' will return in 'The Boys' Season 5, continuing their storylines.
  • Amazon is developing new VCU projects, including a prequel series and another spinoff.

Fans of the Vought Cinematic Universe will have to say goodbye to Godolkin University as Prime Video has officially canceled ‘The Boys‘ spinoff series ‘Gen V‘ after just two seasons. The satirical superhero drama followed a new generation of young supes training at a prestigious college. It aired its final episodes last October, but there is a glimmer of hope for fans of the show’s characters, as executive producers confirmed the story is not entirely over.

While we wish we could keep the party going another season at Godolkin, we’re committed to continuing the ‘Gen V’ characters’ stories in ‘The Boys’ Season 5 and other VCU projects on the horizon,” executive producers Eric Kripke and Evan Goldberg said in a joint statement.

The second season, which wrapped up six months ago, ended with the young heroes, led by Marie Moreau (Jaz Sinclair), being recruited by Annie January (Starlight) to join the resistance against Homelander. According to the producers, that story thread will pay off in the current final season of the main show.

You’ll see them again,” Kripke and Goldberg reassured fans. They teased that the characters from the canceled spinoff will pop up before the original series ends.

Gen V‘ first came out in 2023 and got strong reviews for its darker, college-aged take on the brutal superhero world. The cast included Jaz Sinclair, Lizze Broadway, Maddie Phillips, and the late Chance Perdomo. His role was honored after his tragic passing before Season 2 aired.

New VCU Shows Are Still Coming Despite Cancellation

Even though ‘Gen V‘ is ending and the Godolkin storyline is wrapping up, the VCU is far from over. Amazon is moving forward with ‘Vought Rising,’ a prequel series starring Jensen Ackles as Soldier Boy and Aya Cash as Stormfront. It is set to come out in 2027. Another spinoff, “The Boys: Mexico,” is still in development.
