Tom Taylor took on the role of Cregan Stark for the series ‘House Of The Dragon‘. Also called the ‘Lord of Winterfell’, the trailer of the series also showed a few glimpses of the character played by Tom. The character is huge in terms of aura and Tom feels the weight.
Tom talked about his emotions while portraying the character in the ‘House OF The Dragon’. He felt cool and gangster-like while putting on the role of Cregan Stark.
“It’s Heavy”: Tom Taylor On The Role Of Cregan Stark
Tom Taylor quite literally felt the weight of playing Cregan Stark both in the literal and emotional form. “It’s heavy,” the 22-year-old actor described it as. During an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Taylor talked about his emotions while playing the role of Cregan Stark.
Tom said that he felt like a gangster while wearing the leather costume to portray the character. He said, “And it was hot. It was maybe 25, 30 degrees [celsius] in England, and it was boiling. But I was blown away. I felt cool. I did feel like a bit of a gangster, to be honest.”
Taking in the inspiration from the ancestors of the characters of Eddard Stark (Sean Bean) and Jon Snow (Kit Harington) from HBO’s ‘Game of Thrones‘, Tom continued: “I did use Sean Bean a lot,” he says. “For some reason, I felt like I needed to because he’s Sean Bean’s great, great, great, great, great-granddad“.
He added, “I wanted him to have the same presence because the voice tells so much. When they speak, you can hear the weight on all their shoulders.”

Taylor Reveals Details Of His Secret Audition And Casting
Taylor’s character of Cregan also known as the ‘Wolf of the North’, is currently in his youth in season 2 of ‘House Of The Dragon‘. In the Targaryen civil war, which is also called the ‘Dance of the Dragons’, Rhaenyra (Emma D’Arcy) sends her son Jacaerys Velaryon to meet with Cregan at Winterfall and secure the North of their side.
Moreover, Taylor also revealed that he auditioned for the role in 2023 and kept it a secret by the name of ‘CS’ for a mysterious project called ‘Red Gun‘ which is a code name used for ‘House Of Dragon’. And a few months later he met with the producers and the directors of the team. Taylor’s family was more excited than him for the role as they are die-hard fans of the ‘Game Of Thrones‘ franchise.
Moreover, Taylor had a personal connection with the series as his father’s side of the family grew up in Manchester. He said, “They’re all Northmen if you like, that kind of rough ’round the edges, Northern love”.
Tom Taylor is all set to debut in season 2 of ‘House Of Dragon’, which premiers this Sunday on HBO and Max at 9 pm ET/PT.
