The gritty crime drama, ‘Mayor of Kingstown’, is set to be the end of an era, but fans have finally got a promising update from the set. The fifth and final season of the long-running Paramount+ series is almost finished, according to Jeremy Renner.
Jeremy Renner Teases A Dangerous Final Season
Renner posted the information on social media, saying, “Finishing our SEASON 5… It has been a great run this year in Pittsburgh, PA. We hope you enjoy.” The update is a bittersweet moment for those who have been watching Mike McLusky’s existence since 2021, trying to balance between the gangs, prisoners, and law enforcement.

The actor had earlier said that season 5 will be more of a challenge than ever before. In an earlier post, Renner warned fans, “No one is safe this season.” This was enough to get old-time fans thinking.
Kingstown’s mayor has never been afraid to put his characters in life-or-death scenarios, and season 4 of the series was no exception. The fourth season was one of the best, with the action scenes being quite violent and the characters always feeling like they could be killed at any given moment.
Taylor Sheridan’s Vision Finally Reaches The Finish Line
Paramount+ has announced that the series will be done after season 5 and that the final season will have eight episodes instead of 10. However, co-creator Hugh Dillon has indicated that the series always had an end in mind. Dillon said the creative team had a roadmap for the end years, which Sheridan had laid out years ago.

“Taylor had it in his head. We talked about how the whole thing goes, and this is where it’s going to end in whatever season it ends, but that’s part of what the fun was. Then we can fill in the rest of it, because we know where it’s ending.“
This might be comforting for those who were concerned about an abrupt or incomplete ending. The series doesn’t seem like it’s rushing to a conclusion. Instead, it looks like it’s going toward a conclusion that was always in the cards.
If production continues as planned, then season 5 of ‘Kingstown’ will premiere in late 2026 or early 2027. It’s the final chapter, but it looks like Sheridan’s thriller will get out with a bang, judging by the tease.
