‘The Idol’ has become one of the worst TV series in the history of television. After the first episode, the viewership started to plummet due to its gross representation of creating art with pain. It also did not treat its protagonist well and instead sexualized her to propel the narrative. Olivia Rodrigo has also expressed the same sentiments as viewers about watching the series.
During an interview with The Guardian, Olivia Rodrigo said she watched ‘Barbie’ instead of ‘The Idol.’ The artist said, “I don’t have the desire to [watch it]. I remember walking out of Barbie and being like, ‘Wow, it’s so long since I’ve seen a movie that is female-centered in a way that isn’t sexual or about her pain or her being traumatized.’ “

‘The Idol’ Gets Canceled After One Season
The audience will have no more freaky Sundays as HBO announces that it will not renew ‘The Idol’ for another season. Though the actors fiercely defended the series and did not get fazed by the brutal criticism, including Lily-Rose Depp saying that “all the best art is polarizing.” In a statement, the channel admitted that the show is its most provocative program.
A spokesperson for HBO said, ” ‘The Idol’ was one of HBO’s most provocative original programs, and we’re pleased by the strong audience response. After much thought and consideration, HBO, as well as the creators and producers have decided not to move forward with a second season. We’re grateful to the creators, cast, and crew for their incredible work.”
