Royals Who Were Portrayed In ‘The Crown’
Queen Elizabeth II was portrayed by three different actors showing the queen in different stages of her life. Claire Foy portrayed Queen Elizabeth at the age of 25, alongside ‘Doctor Who‘ actor, Matt Smith who played the role of Prince Philip, in the first two seasons of ‘The Crown‘. They were followed by Olivia Coleman and Tobias Menzies in seasons three and four. In seasons 5 and 6, Imelda Staunton will become Queen Elizabeth II, with Jonathan Pryce as Prince Philips. Verity Russell portrayed Princess Elizabeth in childhood flashbacks in the first and third seasons of the series.
The role of Princess Margret was perfected by actors like Vanessa Kirby, and Helen Bonham Carter, and soon by Lesley Manville. English actress Victoria Hamilton played The Queen Mother, while King George VI was presented by Jared Harris. Josh O’Connor played Prince Charles and he was later on joined by Emma Corrin as Princess Diana in ‘The Crown’ season 4. In the upcoming season, the role will be taken over by Dominic West and Elizabeth Debicki. A young Prince Charles was bought on screen by young actor Julian Baring in season two. The Duchess of Windsor, Wallis Simpson, wife of King Edward VIII also appears in the series. She was acted by Lia Williams. Lyla Barret-Rye was cast as Princess Anne, from age 7 to 13 in the early season of ‘The Crown‘.

‘The Crown’ Season 5: Everything you Need To Know
The historic drama is focused on the private and public lives of the British royal family, which mainly revolves around Queen Elizabeth II. Peter Morgan developed the series from his drama film ‘The Queen‘ and especially his stage play ‘The Audience‘. ‘The Crown‘ season 5 is set to be aired in November 2022. The season will cover the early 1990s, which is likely to represent Queen Elizabeth II’s “annus horriblis” of 1992 when Windsor Castle was severely damaged by a fire and three of her children’s marriages ended. The series also like to cover Diana’s interview in 1995, her divorce from Prince Charles, and finally her death in 1997. The filming of the upcoming season is put on hold with respect to Queen Elizabeth who passed away on September 8.
