Sam Levinson Teases What Audience Can Expect From Season Three Of Zendaya-Starrer ‘Euphoria’

One of the most intriguing success stories on television has been that of ‘Euphoria.’ It stars one of the most beloved actresses of our generation, Zendaya, as a recovering drug addict. The series also stars other supreme talents like Alexa Damie, Sydney Sweeney, Jacob Elordi, Hunter Schaffer, and others. Zendaya created Emmy history by winning the ‘Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series’ award twice.

In February 2022, HBO announced that ‘Euphoria’ had been renewed for season three. Since the heart-wrenching second finale, many things have happened. Barbie Ferreira, who played Kat, has walked out of the series. Angus Cloud, who plays Fezco in the series, has passed away. Recently, during an interview with Elle magazine for Zendaya’s cover, the director, Sam Levinson, gave an update.

Sam Levinson, during the interview, confirmed that season three of ‘Euphoria’ will explore the ‘film noir’ genre. He said that in the new season, he will utilize Rue’s lenses to “explore what it means to be an individual with principles in a corrupt world. Levinson also praised Zendaya’s grit in playing Rue. He added, “She’s the most competitive person I know, in a good way. She’s constantly growing as an artist and always seeking a challenge. She’s never complacent.”

The second season of ‘Euphoria’ has achieved both critical and audience acclaim. The finale episode of the series shows Rue’s attempt at reconciliation after her breakdown during the intervention scene with Lexi. Police raid Fezco and Ashtray’s home, which causes strife between them, and Ashtray loses his life. Cassie and Maddy get into a brawl, only to end up empathizing with each other’s pain.

Before the last episode, Zendaya posted a note from her interview with Esquire, where she admits wanting people to see Rue as a “person worthy of their love. She said, “It’s my hope for people watching that they still see [Rue] as a person worthy of their love. And worthy of their time, and that she has a redemptive quality still, and that we still see the good in her even if she can’t see it in herself.”

The ‘Dune’ actress continued, “I think that if people can go with her through that, and get to the end, and still have hope for her future, and watch her make the changes and steps to heal and humanize her through her sobriety journey and her addiction, then maybe they can extend that to people in real life.”
