Sterling K. Brown Reveals He Turned Down A “Tempting” Season-Long Villainous Role In ‘The Boys’

Sterling K. Brown has proven himself as a powerhouse actor, earning accolades for his work in ‘This Is Us’ and ‘Black Panther’. While fans are eager to see him in more prominent roles, he recently revealed that he passed on a major opportunity.

The actor was given a season-long villain role on the hit Amazon Prime series ‘The Boys’. Moreover, despite the offer being very tempting he ultimately had to turn it down.

He continued, “Listen, these are champagne problems I’m talking about here! But because I’m blessed enough to already have certain things in place, I get a chance to be a bit more choosy about what projects I do.” It’s easy to see why the offer would have been tempting.

The Boys’ has established itself with its satire, shocking twists, and memorable villains. Additionally, the show’s ability to create morally complex antagonists is one of its hallmarks. So, fans can only imagine what Brown might have brought to the table. Unfortunately, the challenges of committing to a full season away from his family were too hard for Brown.

Though Sterling K. Brown turned down a role in ‘The Boys’, the actor has made it clear that he’s not done with superhero projects, especially when it comes to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Brown previously appeared in ‘Black Panther’ as N’Jobu, the father of Michael B. Jordan’s Erik Killmonger.

While his role was relatively brief, it was emotionally impactful, serving as the foundation for Killmonger’s worldview and his quest for justice. In the same interview, Brown expressed his desire to return to the MCU. The actor even compared it to ‘Law & Order’.

I feel like Marvel should be like Law & Order—after a certain number of years, you gotta reset, you get to come back,” Brown said. The comparison isn’t far-fetched. Like Law & Order, Marvel has an ever-expanding universe of stories and characters. “I would love to come back to the Marvel universe, absolutely. Please have me back. Please, please. Thank you,” Brown concluded.
