‘Ted Lasso’ brings a familiar face from Nigeria for Sam to call home. As this special person arrives, Sam gets involved with the unwelcoming policies toward immigrants. Gentle words and kindness are not always the way to go, something he learns the hard way when the thing he cares about is hurt.
Speaking of hard things- Total Football takes some adjusting to. After extolling its virtues to the team, Coach Lasso sends Richmond to a brutal practice. But learning the Dutch way isn’t easy for this English side as they overlap and fall to their faces. But there’s a feeling that against all odds, the wind will blow in their direction.

‘Ted Lasso’ Season 3: Ola Obisanya Pays His Son A Visit
Nonso Anozie plays Ola Obisanya, Sam’s father. His arrival coincides with an ugly incident that breaks Sam (Toheeb Jimoh) down to pieces. Sam, the owner of a Nigerian restaurant, reserves a table for his father as he’s looking forward to spending with him. If the incorrigible and bigoted home secretary, Brinda Barot, allows the immigrants to enter the country. Wanting to make things better, Sam gets into a bit of social media back-and-forth with the home secretary.

Finally, his spirit breaks when the restaurant gets vandalized. As he angrily walks into the Richmond locker room and lashes out at his teammates, Ola provides him paternal comfort. ‘Ted Lasso’ Season 3: How Is Total Football Working For Richmond?
After Coach Beard’s (Brendan Hunt) presentation, the team gets to practice Total Football. Except they must master it in a couple of days before playing against Arsenal. To bind them in a symphony, the training sessions get literal by attaching groups of players with ropes. The idea is to make players comfortable switching and adapting to their new roles in the team. The training session is a disaster, with players bumping against each other—all but Jamie, who remains the striker.
At halftime, Richmond trails by 3-0. Richmond is unable to execute their new way of football. Players are tired and confused, giving the ball away too quickly. The problem is Jamie’s (Phil Dunster) positioning, which he points out to the team. He suggests having a more central role in the midfield instead of being a striker. Being in the middle of the pitch allows him to dictate the game’s tempo and create attacking options in the opposition’s half. It works like a charm as they score a beautiful team goal. Yes, they did lose, but the system works.
