‘The Office’ Rebooted With A Huge Twist: Everything To Know About The Show

It is an official remake of a remake. Get ready for the thirteenth remake of ‘The Office‘ and the first to have a female lead. The most famous is Steve Carrell’s US version of the show. There have been previous remakes of the popular sitcom in France, Chile, Canada, the Middle East, Israel, and Poland. 

Prime Video Australia is now remaking ‘The Office‘ as a female-led comedy starring Felicity Ward, the stand-up comedian in the role of Ricky Gervais’ David Brent. Here’s everything to know about the show.

The Plot Of Female-Led Remake Of ‘The Office’

“That’s what she said” is set to become “That’s what he said!” In Amazon Prime Australia, Ricky Gervais‘ David Brent will become Hannah Howard, the MD of a packaging company Flinley Craddick, starring Felicity Ward. The plot of the series is set post-COVID when Hannah gets news from head office that her branch will be shutting down and that staff will have to work from home. She goes into survival mode, making promises she can’t keep, and launches outlandish plots in order to keep her work family together.

Gervais, who co-created the original BBC series with Stephen Merchant, said “I’m very excited about Australia remaking my little show from the turn of the century. Office politics have changed a bit in 20 years, so can’t wait to see how they navigate a modern-day David Brent.”

The Office: Australia’ Release Date

The Office: Australia‘ will launch globally excluding the US on Prime Video in 2024. Along with that BBC Studios Australia and New Zealand and Bunya Entertainment are attached to the eight-part show. The eight weeks of filming will begin in June in Sydney, Australia. 

The Brand-New Cast

The female-led ‘The Office: Australia‘ stars Felicity Ward in the lead. It also stars Edith Poor, Shari Sebbens, Steen Raskopoulos, Jonny Brugh, and Josh Thomson. Along with Pallavi Sharda, Susan Ling Young, Lucy Schmit, Raj Labede, and Firass Dirani.

It is an honor to continue the international comedy legacy of The Office locally while introducing new, quintessentially Australian characters.
