‘The Rings of Power’ has been a two-season journey through Middle-earth, seen through the eyes of heroes. In Season 1, Galadriel was a major driving force, and in Season 2, Elrond was a major character.
Now, as Prime Video’s fantasy epic continues to plunge into the Second Age, it seems the story is about to take a dramatic turn.
Sauron’s Rise Could Change Everything In ‘The Rings Of Power’

Season 3 will take viewers on a dive into the War of the Elves and Sauron, one of the most important battles in J.R.R. Tolkien’s mythology. This means that the Dark Lord himself could be the biggest character in the series going forward.

It’s an exciting prospect, especially after the show spent two seasons carefully building Sauron’s rise from a mysterious wanderer to Middle-earth’s greatest threat. Sauron has been around since the start of ‘The Rings of Power’. However, much of his story has taken place under the guise of masks and false identities.
He first enticed audiences as Halbrand, and then tricked Celebrimbor and the Elves as Annatar. Season 3 is supposed to turn that around. The series no longer has to be about the Dark Lord hiding in plain sight; it can be about what he really wants to do.
The next few episodes will probably show Sauron’s attack on the Elves, and one of the most significant events in Tolkien’s history: the creation of the One Ring. This is a giant step for the ‘Lord of the Rings’ fans. The One Ring is a crucial part of the story, and its creation is equally important.
Then there is the transformation of the Nine Ring-bearers to the terrifying Nazgûl. It would be interesting to see these iconic moments from Sauron’s point of view and to learn more about his mind.
Even With Sauron’s Rise, The Heroes Aren’t Going Anywhere

‘The Rings of Power’ will not be leaving behind its tried and trusted cast of characters, even if Sauron is the lead. Galadriel and Elrond are still very important characters in the battle against the Dark Lord and will likely be a huge part of the season.

After Eregion fell, Elrond is set to play a major role in helping to build Rivendell into a stronghold for the Elves. Meanwhile, Galadriel continues to use Nenya and to defend her people as darkness creeps over Middle-earth.
There are also indications that some much-anticipated characters may be making their debut, like Galadriel’s husband, Celeborn. With the conflict heating up and Sauron’s influence increasing, Season 3 looks set to be the most pivotal of the series so far. The bad guy’s ascent could finally be just as compelling as the heroes trying to stop him.
