“I mean, I married my best friend. But to back it up, when we reconnected, I was 27. And I was a very different person than I was when I was 25, let alone when I was 21 or 19,” Kunis began. “You go through different changes, and you evolve. Hopefully, you grow, you become different.”
She explained that they had already watched each other change over the years before they started dating. “But he knew me through all of them, and I knew him through all of it, through like the good, the bad, the ugly, you know, and vice versa,” Kunis said.
“So when we reconnected, there was no getting to know each other, there was no, ‘But let me tell you all these hidden secrets.'”
Knowing Each Other For Years Built Lasting Trust

Kunis said their shared past became the foundation of their marriage because they never had to hide parts of themselves. Having known each other since their teenage years meant they had already seen one another at different points in life.

“There’s nothing to hide,” she said before adding, “Our fundamentals, our foundation, everything is built on respect because we’ve known each other since I was 14 and he was 19.”
She also believes their relationship has remained strong because they have already experienced personal growth together. “[It’s seeing that] people can grow and evolve. It’s also just knowing that at all moments in our lives, we will be able to grow together because we already have,” she added.
“And so, there’s an ease about it. And there’s a trust behind it.” Kunis shared one final example of why that trust matters. “He’s not going to go, ‘Well, that’s not the person I married.’ He’ll be like, ‘Okay, let’s go for a ride.’“
Kunis believes that growing up alongside Kutcher before falling in love gave their marriage the trust, respect, and comfort that still keep it strong today.
