“There’s A Sense Of Relief, A Sense Of Sadness”: ‘Stranger Things’ Actor Joe Keery Is Feeling Bittersweet As The Show Is Ending After Season 5

Netflix introduced a bunch of cool kids in Hawkins, Indiana, who are fighting gory creatures and unearthing government conspiracies. ‘Stranger Things’ opened a portal for both Gen Y and Gen Z. For the former, it was a nostalgic ride through the times of VHS and the scary demons that ceased to exist post-90s. After five successful seasons, Eleven & Co. will bid us goodbye.

After the Vecna fear lingered back in Hawkins town, many personal stories unfolded and old wounds opened. In Season 5, the Duffer Brothers are planning to keep the series limited to Hawkins and the portal Upside Down. The gang will unite to solve the mystery of killing the demonic creature that had its origins in Hawkins lab. The creators also teased that they would address some mysteries of the Upside Down world. Now that the series is coming to an end, Joe Keery, who plays Steve Harrington, feels bittersweet about the show’s ending.

The audience is gearing up for the fifth and final season of their favorite sci-fi show on Netflix, ‘Stranger Things.’ The show revolutionized the genre in a long-format setting by bringing back the nostalgia of ‘Dungeons & Dragons’ for 80s kids.

The series gave wings to the careers of actors like Millie Bobby Brown and Noah Schnapp. The exact date of the show is not out yet, as it can be pushed back due to the recent writers’ strike. However, actor Joe Keery is indulging in some retrospect as ‘Stranger Things’ comes to an end.

During an interview with Women’s Wear Daily, Joe Keery says that ‘Stranger Things’ opened the gates of opportunity for him. He said, “It does feel like it’s time. It won’t be easy for it to end. I mean, I owe my whole career to being on that show and all the opportunities that I had since are because of that show.”

Joe Keery became widely known in the series as he became part of the main cast of ‘Stranger Things.’ He is known for his sleek hairstyle and for saving Mike and his friends from the creatures that haunt the town. Following that, he reconciled with his girlfriend and Mike’s older sister, Nancy Wheeler.

In the interview, Joe admitted that he had a good time with the cast members and would not take the journey for granted. The actor continued, “So it’s very convoluted. There’s a sense of relief, there’s a sense of sadness. I guess my goal is to just really soak it up as much as I can while we’re doing it, and not take any of it for granted because it’s been an amazing ride with such great people.”

Keery added, “And then once it’s done, move forward and try to just hold on to the joy that we had when we were making it….Everything has a beginning and the middle and an end. It’ll be nice to have the end of this too.”
