The episode starts with the disappearance of an eight-year-old girl. When a single mother claims that it is connected to her son, Charlie, things take a new turn. The BAU then looks into a predator that has been on the loose kidnapping twelve children over the course of a decade.

9. Mr. Scratch- Season 10 Episode 21
This episode introduces us to a very important criminal mastermind who will haunt the BAU for a long time. That is none other than Peter Lewis. The premise is as interesting as it can get.
Three murder suspects in three different states claim a “shadow monster” forced them to kill their loved ones. The BAU then comes face to face with a criminal mastermind who forces people into hallucinating someone named Mr. Scratch before committing murders.
8. Penelope- Season 3 Episode 9
This episode had fans on a rollercoaster ride with their seats gripped tight. Their beloved character Garcia was fighting for her life after being hit by a bullet in the chest in this episode.
Episode 9 also introduced analyst Kevin Lynch who would become an important part of the show in the upcoming episodes. This episode dug deep into Garcia’s personal life and past while making fans root for the character.
7. Date Night- Season 15, Episode 6
Cat Adams is one of the most interesting characters on the show who is responsible for the deaths of more than 200 people. This episode talks about a woman’s obsession which can be dangerous for others as well. She arranges for the kidnapping of Reid’s girlfriend Maxine’s father and her sister. All this only to get a date with Reid one last time.
6. Zugzwang- Season 8, Episode 12
This episode is undoubtedly very emotionally challenging and traumatic. Reid finds himself in a hopeless situation when his long-distance girlfriend Maeve gets kidnapped by her stalker. As the BAU find out who the stalker is and where Maeve is, they are in for a shock and Reid is in for a heartbreak.
5. Elephant’s Memory- Season 3, Episode 16
This episode is one packed with all kinds of emotions. The BAU tracks down a teenager responsible for some highly violent deaths. Reid’s involvement with the teenage killer goes back to his own childhood. And although he tries to make things better he just ends up in a downward spiral.
4. The Fisher King: Part 1 and “The Fisher King: Part 2- Season 1, Episode 22 and Season 2, Episode 1
Although two separate episodes, they are part of one big story. The season one finale and the season two opener are pure geniuses. The lives of the members of the BAU are tangled up with this case.
They find mysterious messages left for them by a budding serial killer. As the team deciphers the messages inspired by an Arthurian legend, they must hurry to save themselves and find the killer.
3. Masterpiece- Season 4, Episode 8
This episode has been a real challenge to the BAU as they solve a Fibonacci sequence and race against time to save five innocent lives. Henry Grace is a narcissistic psychopath who confessed his murdering seven people.
However, this is part of a big conspiracy where he wants to take revenge on Rossi. The question remains whether the BAU can save the lives of five people before time runs out.
2. 100- Season 5 Episode 9
George Foyet and Hotch have a long history on the show with Foyet trying to make Hotch’s life a living hell at every turn. After Foyet kills Hotch’s wife, he beats him to death in a rage until the other members stop him. Now the BAU submits to individual questioning as they try to save Hotch.
1. Revelations- Season 2, Episode 15
Another Reid episode, this one brings the good vs evil points much more strongly to the table. This episode captures the grey areas in life. Reid is kidnapped by a serial killer who suffers from multiple personality disorder. The man is both a killer and a victim in this episode. However, it is Reid who finds himself back in his childhood trauma.
