Why Is ‘Carnival Row’ Ending With Season 2?

Carnival Row was released on Amazon Prime Video in 2019 with a lot of expectations. Although it was well-received by the audiences, the critics were not so impressed with the series. However, this did not stop the makers from confirming another season that has already premiered on the streaming platform on February 17, 2023.

The main premise focuses on a world where human beings and mystical creatures reside together and things take a suspenseful turn when a monster starts to murder the fae folk. It seems to be an interesting storyline but as everyone knows that the second season will be the final season of the series, people have the right to know the reasons. So let’s check out why.

Makers Confirm That ‘Carnival Row’ Will End After Season 2

When ‘Carnival Row’ premiered in 2019, the Rotten Tomatoes score was shocking for the audience. They did not have any doubt regarding the places where the budget was used but thought that it had less substance and more style.

FlixPatrol revealed that the show was on top of the best 10 shows on the streaming platform for a month in the US but it failed to reach the same spot in the UK. However, it remained on that list for a year in the Czech Republic but it could not maintain the same position after the rankings dropped.

The second season was in the making process but the production had to be stopped due to the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020. However, the makers managed to finish principal photography by August 2020 but reshoots and filming continued until the following year. The team started to work on the visual effects but in November 2022, it was confirmed that the second season will be the last.

Orlando Bloom Reveals Filming Details

Orlando Bloom, who plays the role of Rycroft “Philo” Philostrate in ‘Carnival Row’, spoke to Collider in February 2023 and said that the pandemic forced the makers to think about the future of the series. He added that the show was never made to be continued for multiple seasons.

Bloom said that he never signed for more than one season and that the producers and the rest of the cast members had to work for a long period considering the visual effects that were required for the show. He added that while the production had to be stopped, it was a blessing for him as he was able to spend more time with his daughter Daisy.
