‘Demon Slayer’: Will Tanjiro Become The Next Flame Hashira, Replacing Kyojuro Rengoku?

Hashiras in ‘Demon Slayer’ are strange beings with enormous strength, talent, and presence. Kyojuro Rengoku, the Flame Hashira however, managed to stand out from his friends despite being a part of this group of odd people thanks to his upright and exceptionally brilliant attitude. To be fair, though, one of the main reasons he stands out is certainly his fiery hair.

In the Mugen Train arc, The Flames Hashira struggled to defend the helpless and the innocent with an unshakeable sense of justice and duty until he passed away from a deadly wound provided by Akaza, an upper-level three demon of the Twelve Kizuki. Now, the question arises, Will Tanjiro be the next Flame Hashira?

Who Is Kyojuro Rengoku And How Did He Become The Flame Hashira?

A key supporting figure in ‘Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba and the deuteragonist of the Mugen Train Arc was Kyojuro Rengoku. He was the late Flame Hashira and a member of the Demon Slayer Corps.

The Father of Kyojuro, Shinjuro, and also the previous Flame Hashira, drowned himself in alcohol due to depression following the death of his wife. He started to disregard his obligations as a father and a Hashira. He frequently yelled at Kyojuro and Senjuro (Kyojuro’s brother), telling them they lacked skill for swordplay and would never become adept at Flame Breathing. Regardless of what his father had said, Kyojuro was determined to practice and put in a lot of effort in order to show his father that he was wrong about him. He wanted to show his father that he has matured as a swordsman by becoming the new Flame Hashira.

For a very long period, Kyojuro was painfully aware that his brother Senjuro lacked his impressive body. But he never made fun of his brother; contrary, he always inspired him. Kyojuro was adamant that no one could ever be let down by perseverance. After their mother passed away, Kyojuro took it upon himself to set the best example for his brother because their father was unable to carry out his duties as a responsible parent. Because he wants to set a good example for Senjuro and please him, he gives everything he does his all.

Will Tanjiro Become The Next Flame Hashira, Replacing Kyojuro Rengoku?

Many think Tanjiro will succeed Rengoku as the Flame Hashira because Rengoku passed away and left his will in his care. This is especially true when you take into account that Tanjiro originally breathed using fire.

The fact is that Tanjiro employs the Sun Breathing technique, which is the ancestor of all other forms, which is an incredibly rare variation of the Dance of the Fire God.

Despite having titles that sound similar, it is entirely distinct from the Flame Breathing style. Because the Breath of the Sun is entirely different from the Flame Breathing method, Tanjiro won’t replace Flame Hashira after Rengoku. The Flame Hashiras line has also passed away with Rengoku, along with his father and brother.
