‘Jujutsu Kaisen’ is one of the most popular anime currently. This shonen anime is taking the anime world by storm and the second season in particular has taken over the anime world. However, if there is one thing that the fans cannot figure out it is about Geto. Geto has the ability to swallow cursed spirits and then use them as he likes, however, he was unable to swallow Toji Fushiguro’s cursed spirit. Fans wish to know why.
Who Is Geto Suguru?
Geto Suguru was Gojo Satoru’s best friend. In addition to Gojo, he was the strongest sorcerer of their generation. Suguru Geto was also a special-grade sorcerer and was immensely powerful. He used to be a very kind and soft individual but eventually grew to hate the non-sorcerers. His hatred became so profound that he murdered over a hundred civilians. After this, he was expelled from the Jujutsu High and came to be known as the worst of the curse users.
As much as he hated the non-sorcerers, he respected the sorcerers just as much. He considered them his family and was always polite to them even if he didn’t like them. He was killed by Gojo Satoru and his death stayed with him. However, Suguru was then hijacked in a manner by Kenjaku and became the antagonist of the series. When Gojo encountered the Kenjaku hijacked Suguru, he was extremely shocked.
Why Was Suguru Unable To Absorb Toji’s Spirit?
Suguru Geto had a very unique and interesting ability. His ability allowed him to absorb curses. After dominating the curse, it turns into a ball-like structure and Suguru can easily absorb it. Whilst he admits that it is very unpleasant to absorb cursed spirits like that, it makes him extremely powerful.
Suguru fought Toji after the sorcerer killed Gojo Satoru by stabbing him. Toji also managed to kill Riko Amanai, the star plasma vessel. Gojo’s death angered Suguru and he fought Toji. Suguru tried to absorb Toji’s cursed spirit but was unsuccessful and Toji eventually defeated him. The reason why Suguro was unable to absorb the cursed spirit is because it was in a master-slave-like relationship with Toji.
According to his abilities, Suguru can absorb any spirit with no consequences as long as it’s two grades below him. However, he cannot absorb other sorcerers’ spirits if he hasn’t killed the sorcerer, thus, eventually eradicating their connection with the spirit. Since Toji was alive, Geto couldn’t absorb his cursed spirit. This is why Suguru Geto was unable to absorb Toji Fushiguro’s cursed spirit.
