“A Truly Terrible Performance”: Brian Cox Takes A Sharp Jibe At Joaquin Phoenix For His Role In ‘Napolean’

Actor Brian Cox launched a scathing attack on Joaquin Phoenix’s role as Napoleon Bonaparte in Ridley Scott’s upcoming film ‘Napoleon. Cox did not hold back while criticizing Phoenix’s performance as “terrible” and “appalling.” According to the Evening Standard, Cox was speaking during a recent interview at HistFest in London when he claimed that he would have done better justice to the role instead of Pheonix.

Terrible. It’s terrible. A truly terrible performance by Joaquin Phoenix,” Cox said. “It really is appalling. I don’t know what he was thinking. I think it’s totally his fault and I don’t think Ridley Scott helps him. I would have played it a lot better than Joaquin Phoenix, I tell you that. You can say it’s good drama. No – it’s lies,” he added.

Cox did not stop there, as he then turned his critical eye to another historical epic, ‘Braveheart. The actor dismissed the film as “a load of nonsense.” Though he acknowledged Mel Gibson’s performance, Cox highlighted the film’s historical inaccuracies. “Mel Gibson was wonderful, but it’s a load of lies. He never impregnated the French princess. It is a bollocks [sic] that film,” he said.

Brian Cox Says He Would Leave America Soon, Especially If Donald Trump Comes To Power

Other than acting, Brian Cox also touched upon some other things including the upcoming presidential elections and the future of America. In a rather bold statement, Cox hinted that he would probably leave the country soon, especially if former President Donald Trump comes to power again.

Speaking about political disillusionment as a driving factor for his decision, Trump expressed his disappointment over the current political climate in the US. “I think my relationship with America will be coming to a very short sharp end quite soon because of that very thing,” he said.

It’s very hard to govern America, and you certainly don’t need idiots like Trump doing that. I do think that Biden is a good man, but he’s too old,” he continued.  When questioned about the possibility of leaving the U.S. if Trump were re-elected, Cox responded with candor: “I probably will.
