This week, the required 4.5 million signatures were collected for a petition demanding that Amber Heard be removed from her role in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. The target number of signatures for the petition has been increased to 6 million in the aftermath of Johnny Depp’s triumph in his highly publicized defamation suit.
The testimonies in the Depp-Heard trial came to a halt on June 2, and it included information on Heard’s role in the planned DC sequel, which has been speculated about for a long time. After her former spouse’s team called her abuse allegations a “hoax,” Heard disclosed on the stand that her role in Aquaman 2 was significantly reduced due to bad publicity.
“I fought really hard to stay in the movie. They didn’t want to include me in the film,” she Stated. One unsubstantiated Hollywood story claims that Heard appears in the final edit of the movie for less than 10 minutes.

Amber Heard’s scenes in the role of Mera are rumored to be excised from the upcoming film ‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom’, according to KC Walsh, a reliable insider who attended a meeting with higher-ups at Warner Bros. The test screening of the sequel, on the other hand, will show whether or not Mera passes away while giving birth at the beginning of the story.
During the prosecution of Johnny Depp, Heard admitted in court that her role in the first film, in which she had starred as the leading woman, had been diminished after she had established herself as a great celebrity.
Warner Bros Worries That Heard’s Presence Might Damage The Film’s Profit
The role of Mera, portrayed by Amber Heard and serving as Jason Momoa’s on-screen love interest in the 2018 film Aquaman, received the most screen time compared to that of any other character. With Arthur Curry ascending to the throne of Atlantis, the character’s path forward in the DC Extended Universe and the aquatic series was unquestionably set.
It is clear that Warner Bros. feels that the involvement of Heard might be detrimental to the overall box office performance of the picture due to the fact that a large number of members of the general public did not back Heard during the trial. Her removal from the sequel might also keep her out of any marketing or promotion for it.
