As the Presidential elections approach, many are worried about the future of America, especially after the presidential debate fail that triggered heavy criticism for both Joe Biden and Donald Trump.
Among many commenting on the matter is Reed Hastings, the co-founder of Netflix and a Democratic party megadonor, who has called for Joe Biden to take himself out of the presidential race. The comment comes after Biden’s disastrous performance at last week’s debate against Donald Trump. Here’s what he sai.
Reed Hastings Is The First Democratic Donor To Call Put President Joe Biden
Reed Hastings told the New York Times on Wednesday that president Joe Biden “needs to step aside to allow a vigorous Democratic leader to beat Trump and keep us safe and prosperous”. The statement coming from Hastings makes it even more interesting as he is a major Democratic donor, and the first one to publicly call for Biden’s exit, adding to the growing clamor within the party.
Despite the White House denying any internal pressure for Biden to withdraw because of his age and other issues, the murmurs about the same are getting louder — more so after Biden’s alarming performance at the debate. Two House Democrats have already gone public with their calls for Biden to step down, while a third has expressed “grave concerns” about his capability to defeat Trump.
A post-debate poll also revealed that one in three Democrats thinks Biden should quit hasn’t helped his cause. Biden also poke about his infamous performance at the debate, attributing it to a grueling international travel schedule. He even admitted that he “nearly fell asleep on stage.”
However, this has not quelled the quiet discussions among some Democratic officials who suggest Vice President Kamala Harris as a potential successor.

Reed Hastings Made Generous Donations To The Democrats, Including For Joe Biden’s Campaign
Reed Hastings and his wife, Patty Quillin, have been steadfast Democratic supporters for a while. The couple has so far donated over $20 million in recent years, including $1.5 million to Biden’s 2020 campaign. They also chipped in $100,000 last year for Biden’s re-election efforts.
Other than politics, Hastings holds a powerful position because of his significant contributions to historically Black colleges and universities and donated over $1 billion in Netflix shares to a Silicon Valley charity.
It now remains to be seen whether the Democratic party considers Hastings’ suggestion and field someone else instead of the current president.
