Andrew Garfield Reveals How ‘We Live In Time’ Helped Him
As the 72nd edition of the San Sebastian tour for the Official Selection festival concludes, John Crowley and Andrew Garfield hosted the final of this year’s star-studded event. During the conference, the ‘Spiderman‘ actor reflected on what helped him choose the script for ‘We Live In Time‘.
“When I read [the script], I was in deep contemplation of the meaning of life. As always, but maybe more pronounced in that moment. I was thinking about life, death, love, meaning, time… standing at the age of 39 and 40, kind of a mid-life crisis, looking forward, looking backward, looking exactly where I am, and thinking, ‘What now?’” he added.

He added, touching on how personal the script felt, “This script arrived, and it was as if I had written it from that place.” He added that he remembers thinking, ‘How did I write this so well? I’m not a writer.’”
Talking about what part of the script is closest to his heart he said, “What I love about these two people is that they represent this strange, mysterious, undying, inexplicable want to live in the face of the most horrific heartache and loss.”
“And how we, as human beings, find that strength, that want, that little flame of longing to live over and over and over again. There are probably people in this room going through something not dissimilar from these characters, facing death and choosing to live anyway. I find that remarkable,” he added.
Andrew Garfield Talks About Wanting To Do “Erotic Roles“
Andrew Garfield is also ready to discover different themes now, as he opened up on his wish to explore genres. He revealed that he is planning on doing an erotic film next.
“I’m considering all these things right now,” he told Hollywood Reporter, “I would love to make a film or a show or something that has the feeling of the stuff that I was brought up on, like ’90s, early 2000s. Amblin Entertainment, adventure, swashbuckling, Indiana Jones-style.”

Talking about wanting to do an erotic thriller next, he said, “But from what I understand, young people want less sex on their screens! It probably makes sense because they’ve been exposed to so much insane, graphic pornography, accessible at the click of a switch that they’re like: “No more.”‘ He added, “So eroticism has been killed somehow, because of the overtaking of pornography. Anyway, I don’t know.”
