Ariana DeBose and Andrew Garfield‘s Tony Awards 2022 video has gone viral. Last Sunday, DeBose turned host for Broadway’s biggest night and brought her best to the stage. In one of her gigs, she sat on Garfield’s lap while singing a song. Her intention was to try and make him uncomfortable for a funny segment during the award show. And, the actor’s reaction was priceless.
While doing her hosting duties, DeBose poked fun at Broadway performers who were interacting with members of the audience. At that point, she decided to rope Garfield into her shtick. As expected, fans couldn’t get enough of the cute video.

Ariana DeBose Gets On Andrew Garfield’s Lap At Tony Awards
“I am close to you, oh so close to you,” the Oscar-winning actress sang, reaching out to Andrew Garfield. “I am touching you / there’s not a lot that you can do,” she continued while touching the seemingly embarrassed actor’s face. She then jumped onto his lap and wrapped her arms around him.
“I’m sitting on you/ ’cause what they say is true / ’cause there is no escaping us in the audience!” she crooned. Garfield was all giggles during the performance.
Though DeBose and Garfield have not appeared in a project together as of yet, they have at least two big things in common. They were both nominated for Oscars this year, and have a connection to the ‘Spider-Man‘ universe.
Garfield recently reprised his role as Spider-Man/Peter Parker in ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home‘. On the other hand, the singer is all set to appear as Calypso in the upcoming Sony/Marvel film ‘Kraven the Hunter‘. The latter movie will follow Sergei Kravinoff/Kraven (played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson), an enemy of Spider-Man known for his tracking and hunting abilities.
Before her hosting gig at the Tonys, DeBose shared that her mom Gina, partner Sue Makkoo and best friend Jonathan Cobrda would be attending the show to cheer her on. All three were also present when DeBose took home the Oscar earlier this year for her performance as Anita in Steven Spielberg’s ‘West Side Story‘. Her mother was the first person she hugged before taking the stage to accept her award.
